Sipsmith Gin

Sipsmith began in 2009, in a tiny workshop in Hammersmith, London. Two childhood friends, Fairfax and Sam, had an unwavering belief in things well made – the way they used to be, the way they should be. So they set up London’s first traditional copper distillery since 1820.

Their mission was simple: to bring London Dry Gin of truly uncompromising quality and character, back to the city where it first earned its name. Every bottle of Sipsmith is hand-crafted in genuinely small batches. Every drop of every batch is lovingly laboured over by hand, by our dedicated Distillers. No regimented timings, no automatic cuts, just a craftsman’s flair and a passion for gin well made. We believe this is the only way to craft spirits of this quality.

The quintessential expression of a classic, traditional London Dry Gin. Bold, complex and aromatic – smooth enough for a Martini, yet rich and balanced, perfect for a G&T.

Honest Verdict

Hendrick’s is a beautiful English Gin with great floral notes coming through in the after taste. Make sure to pair with quality Tonic to really make the most of this gin so maybe pair with some Fentamen’s Tonic and a slice of cucumber to really make your tastebutts blush. We are in love Hendrick’s.

What other experts say …

Juniper Diaries  says … Inhaling deeply from the bottle-top rewarded my nose with an incredibly clean scent of juniper and pine notes. The scent was clearly gin and it held what smelled like a fair payload of juniper. There was little to complicate it, no floral or spice notes, just clear, clean juniper. This first impression was only reinforced when I poured the Sipsmith into a clean glass.

Sampled neat, Sipsmith gin rewards the mouth with more of the same; it is definitely a spirit, but there is only warmth, not harshness, in the mouth. The gin carries a medium-to-heavy juniper load, firmly placing it outside of the realms of the vodka-gin. It is super-smooth and while there are hints of citrus and spice, they are there very subtle and serve only to support the juniper, rather than distract from it. Continue reading review …

The Gin Guide  says … Sipsmith distillery is a wonderful gin haven and you can taste the effort, passion and expertise that has gone into the Sipsmith London Dry gin. It’s complex but well balanced, and it’s the dryness and zestiness that make it stand out. It’s a gin that you instantly know is top quality – so if you see it on the shelf at a bar, it’s a fine choice for a G&T or a martini.  Continue reading review …

Gin Foundry  says … The coriander seed and angelica root gives the Gin a more traditional London Dry profile. On the palate Sipsmith has strong notes of juniper but there is also a definite citrus zing and a depth to the liquid that lingers beautifully. The cassia bark and cinnamon help with the finish and the overall impression is that of a classically styled gin that’s well rounded and smooth. We like serving it with a lime wedge in a Gin & Tonic for that crisp edge, but for those who enjoy more adventurous garnish combinations – dehydrated orange wheels are also a treat. Flaviar  says … A gentle mouthfeel, with initial dry juniper joined by growing sweetness, showing lemon tart & orange marmalade, garnished by a wave of fresh lemon zest, followed by bolder juniper & light dryness, before all the flavours harmonise into one integrated taste.  Continue reading review …
